For me photography has always been about transformation. Experiencing the world through my viewfinder transforms my way of looking, and being seen through a viewfinder transforms my subjects too. But what happens when you are unable to get the shot? When your subjects are too afraid, or too scarce because of lockdowns? When you must maintain distance for your own safety and your subjects’? Covid-19 put me in such a situation, forcing me to look within, and then look again. This project has been about me revisiting the photos that I had previously taken, and pairing them with a photograph shot during the seminar. I looked again at these old images for abandoned stories and new meanings. Unlearning and relearning; connecting the unconnected — transforming — and finding new ways of seeing the world around me, and my existing work and practice.
